Vector Aerospace Engine Services – Atlantic (Vector Atlantic) is a fully authorized Pratt & Whitney Canada Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility. The company is a division of Vector Aerospace and provides worldwide engine support to JT15D, PT6A, PW100 and PW307/308 engines.   Located in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, the custom-built 140,000 square foot facility is ISO 9002 Certified. Vector Atlantic also holds regulatory approvals from Transport Canada, U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), through the US/Canadian Bilateral Agreement, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and multiple other international Civil Aviation Authorities in South America, Africa and the Far East. The main goal was to improve the overall management and traceability of critical assets, parts, and logistics at the facility.  More specifically, the key objectives were to reduce:

  • Risk (financial and time) of selecting the incorrect tool
  • Labour spent manually updating locations movement
  • Manual management and tracking of capital assets

Vector engaged IDBLUE to deploy an RFID solution that consisted of:

  • Metal Embedded HF tags
  • IDBLUE.HF Readers
  • Software Development for tool selection, movement, confirmation
  • Tracking of Drill Tool location changes
