A History of Innovation
At IDBLUE, a privately-held Canadian firm, the history of innovation runs deep. The parent company, Cathexis Innovations Inc., was founded over a decade ago in 2001 by entrepreneurial-driven engineering graduates from Memorial University of Newfoundland. The vision of the company was simple – bridge the gap between the mobile phones and RFID.
In 2004, the company launched the world’s first Bluetooth®-enabled RFID reader, IDBLUE to tap into the rapid adoption of Bluetooth® technology. This first generation reader provided the durability and form factor ideal for RFID applications that required portability or used by mobile employees.
In 2006, the company achieved Microsoft Gold-Certified Partner status for having the highest level of expertise in delivering value to customers and creating positive impact in the technology marketplace built on Microsoft products.
In 2007, building on the success of its flagship product, the operating name of the company was changed to IDBLUE. This name change reflected the company’s continued focus on delivering innovative in-field solutions for Mobile Resource Management (MRM). 2007 also saw the launch of the second generation of IDBLUE’s stylus RFID readers, the R8, with new features such as USB and enhanced battery life. The rugged but elegant new design was engineered for use in harsh environments such as Construction, Oil and Gas while still maintaining its place in existing markets such as Healthcare and Retail.
Fast forward to 2011, where the company continues is tradition of innovation, with the launch of the world’s first Bluetooth® RFID stylus for smartphones and tablets: IDBLUE.HF – the Smart RFID reader for smartphones. The IDBLUE.HF and IDBLUE.UHF allow RFID capability to be added to any smartphone or tablet device, maximizing a clients return on mobility.
